Being in public can tend to be a little daunting when you have a physical appearance that is visibly different in comparison to the 'norm'. From the stares to the whispers, the questions to the medical advice; it can all become very overwhelming. A quick trip to the shops feels like a whole cardio work out. These confrontations about Vitiligo can make the days seem very long. You know what I'm talking about, you finally feel good wearing this dress and you walk outside, and your Auntie says, "have you ever tried covering that up?" or the lady at the bakery starts talking about how you should stop eating bananas.
It's all such an eyerolling experience sometimes.
Even though confrontations about Vitiligo can make us feel uncomfortable, we have no control over what people do or say, only over how we react. If we keep acting only within our comfort zones, we will never experience life. We should all be proud of who we are, and be brave in making changes to the way we live. Life awaits at the end of our comfort zones.
Question:
