Lessons in Lockdown

Although lockdown was tough on our business and just everyday general living, it gave us all an opportunity to spend more time together. Filling our time with games and endless movies, using our initiative and creativity; it was quite enjoyable. Of course once everything opened up we took advantage of it and went on many adventures.

Being around children really frees my soul. There’s no judgment or care for what anyone looks like. We’re just there enjoying each other’s company. They reminded me of a time when I was carefree, before my Vitiligo became the centre of attention. Before the bullying started and being so fixated on making sure I fit into whatever shape it was that was not me. They’re a constant reminder to me to enjoy every moment.

Having Vitiligo has always been difficult. But there was a time when I didn’t allow it to stop me from being adventurous or finding love and beauty in the world around me. A time without consideration of outside judgement and stares. I just did whatever I did because it brought me joy.

And so I am full of gratitude to them for helping me see the beauty in being yourself. There is no comparison in beauty, they are all individually beautiful, because they are themselves. And that is why I love them.

So to all of you reading this. Whoever you are. Whatever you look like. Learn from those around you & Be-You-tiful. Always 💕 Written by: Sarya Kayal
