Love the skin you’re in

Roses are red

violets are blue

You don’t know me

But I have a cure for you

I know I’m not the only one who has been advised by random strangers - and just about everyone else- of a way to “get rid of that”. Vitiligo.

*Pause for dramatic effect on the awkward moment when you tell them you actually like it. 😂

Vitiligo is something I have had and tried to “cure” since ‘97. And when I finally accepted that I couldn’t “fix it”, I made it a mission to cover wherever vitiligo was visible, and it began to be the deciding factor on a lot of things.

The last few years is when I started to understand the purpose of healing from within, and what we leave out is as important as what we allow our selves to keep in.

This isn’t to say if you want your colour back you shouldn’t try to get it, I think everyone should do what makes them comfortable so long as there is no one suffering as the outcome. However after being prodded and poked at since a kid, I’m slightly over it and ready to live my life without visiting doctors and clinics.

For so many years I was concerned with what I looked like and not what I felt like - that was the biggest change in my understanding of healing.

As far as I’m aware there is no proper cure for vitiligo. Regardless, I love who I am and vitiligo is and has always been a huge part of my journey.

Giving me so many opportunities to spread love and awareness about vitiligo. So I won’t be staying away from bananas or rubbing banana peels on my skin, or using rice milk any time soon 😂

What’s the weirdest remedy you’ve been told will cure your vitiligo ? Let me know in the comment section !
